SCHEDULE
Before the tournament, check your player's section and school/team code. If something doesn't look right, alert us right away at osco_treasurer@ochess.org.
8:15 Doors open. Parent/player Q&A. New players are encouraged to come at this time so we can answer your questions and help get your day off to a great start. There is no check-in requirement this year. All registered players will be entered.
9:00 Round One for all sections will begin following announcements in the playing hall. Subsequent rounds are paired ASAP with a break for lunch. Awards ceremonies take place for each section ASAP after that section's final round is complete.
GENERAL INFORMATION & RULES

Open to any K-12 student. No school or team affiliation is required.

No eliminations! Every player plays every round.

Parents are not permitted in the playing room during rounds, and players must exit when their match is finished.

Mobile devices are prohibited on the tournament floor. If the player's device cannot be left with a parent or coach, it must be turned off and kept out of sight. Failure to comply could result in a forfeit loss.

It is the player's responsibility to know and understand the rules by which our tournaments are governed. We ask that all players and parents read OSCO's rules before the tournament. Read them here and call/text (405) 642-6136 if you have questions.
SECTIONS & PRIZES
Register your player in the section corresponding to their US Chess rating and, for players rated under 800, their school grade. Before submitting a request to play in a higher section, read the rules on playing up. Section change requests must be submitted via email to osco_treasurer@ochess.org before the registration deadline.
SECTION I: Elementary U500
Five rounds, G/45. For K–6 players who attend elementary school and are unrated–499. Trophies for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place individuals and for 1st & 2nd-place teams. Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.
SECTION II: U800
Five rounds, G/45 All grades. For players rated 0–799 who attend middle school or high school and for elementary players rated 500–799. Trophies for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place individuals and for 1st & 2nd-place teams. Medals for players with scores of 3.0 or higher.
SECTION III: U1100
Four rounds, G/45; d5
For players rated 800–1099. All grades. Clocks required. Notation strongly encouraged. Trophies for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place individuals and for 1st and 2nd-place teams. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.
SECTION IV: Premier
Four rounds, G/45; d5
For players rated 1100+. All grades. Clocks and notation required. Trophies for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place individuals and for 1st and 2nd-place teams. Medals for players with scores of 2.5 or higher.
EQUIPMENT

SETS are provided for tournament games, but players are encouraged to bring their own for skittles (waiting area).

CLOCKS Please bring your own if you have one. Clocks are required in U1100 and Premier, but players with approved clocks may use them in all sections.

SCORESHEETS and pencils are provided. Notation is required in Premier and encouraged in all sections.
TIEBREAKS
Computer tiebreaks are used for 2nd and 3rd place individual awards and all team awards. In case of a tie between two or more individuals for first place, tiebreak methods are as follows, in this order:

Head-to-head result (if applicable)

G/5 blitz match

TO REGISTER:
Use the form on this page when registration opens (see date above). Entry is $25/player. Parents registering three or more siblings at the same time: $20/player. Current US Chess membership is required.
REFUND POLICY: Upon request we will refund entry fees for cancellations emailed to osco_treasurer@ochess.org by midnight Thursday, February 9.
