OCB Editor’s Message

We have more information that could have been printed in these pages, if the OCA could afford more of them. We’re holding the line on publishing and postage costs to avoid membership dues increases, and allow the OCA to do more for Oklahoma chess than just publish a bulletin. However, you don’t have to miss out. Check out the OCB On-Line Expanded Edition on the OCA website at www.ochess.org.

The most important thing missing from this issue of the OCB (printed and on-line) is material from a larger number of OCA Members. You’ll notice only a few authors, with OCA officers primarily providing all of the material. Members need to be aware that this state of affairs may not sustain the OCB beyond the OCA election next June. It is not mandatory that the USCF State Chapter Affiliate publish a periodical. We could do like the Wisconsin USCF State Chapter by eliminating the published version and lowering dues. If you really want to keep receiving the OCB as an OCA member, then take a couple of hours every several months and write something for the OCB. It can be an article, annotated game(s), or simply something you found interesting or amusing that can be republished. If several members do this on a recurring basis and tournament organizers see that an article about their event is submitted, the OCB may live on.
