OKC Winter Open
The
2004 OKC Winter Open was held on March 6th and 7th at the Quality Inn on
South Western. Considering the recent scheduling issues, the turnout was
respectable, if modest, with 25 chess players. Movses Movsisyan won the
tournament impressively with a perfect score. Chuck Unruh, Sergey Gallant, Joe
Veal, and Matt Miller tied for second at 3 ½ . Chuck
took the Expert plaque on tiebreaks, while Joe received the A prize and Matt
the B prize. Former OCB editor Alan Ball, Jason Poulson,
and Bill Molton tied in C class, with Bill winning
the plaque on tiebreaks. The prize for D and below went to young Jacob Berger,
who turned in a fine performance.
I
wish to thank Jim Gray for his able TD assistance, and also thank all the
entrants for their support.
