OCA Bylaws Update

The OCA bylaws are substandard in many areas, resulting in much of the recent controversy. Therefore, a comprehensive review has been conducted in relation to the bylaws of other state chess associations around the country. Several critical elements have been identified as missing or lacking and addressed in a proposed draft of bylaws that the OCA Policy Board has been reviewing for a many months, along with interested members. The Bylaws proposal will reflect input from all that have participated in the process. The fine tuning process will continue until 26 May and the new bylaws will be voted upon by the members at the Annual Members Meeting, 8AM on 27 June at the Oklahoma Open State Championship. All OCA members are invited to participate in this process. The proposed bylaws will be posted on the OCA website by 27 May at www.ochess.org in the Governance/Bylaws section. Send any input you may have in the process before then to the OCA Secretary, Mike Swatek, at admin@ochess.org, or call 918-812-1591.
