Decision on Oklahoma

     Ralph Bowman – USCF Mediator

After discussions with my committee and the USCF parliamentarian, we cannot find any reason to declare the elections illegal. And while the losers of the election are free to form their own organization and run tournaments, we can see no reason to remove the title of State Affiliate from the OCA.

The organization of the OCA is a different matter. I had requested elections for three positions on Labor Day weekend, but the OCA and Ralph Bowman preferred mediation. In my opinion, the OCF should have accepted one of the compromises offered by the OCA.

Since no compromise was reached, the OCA has continued as if nothing has changed. At this stage, it seems pointless to hold elections for terms of a few months. By my reading of the previous bylaws and some proposed revisions, elections for the whole Policy Board will occur in June, or whenever the OCA holds its state championship. At that time, the new bylaws can be adopted, and whatever other motions that have a lasting impact can be ratified.

I would hope the OCF will participate in the upcoming elections, as the USCF is not likely to change the State Affiliate status.
