2006 Oklahoma Class Championship

The 2006 Oklahoma Class Championship tournament was held on November 4 at the Quality Inn in southwest Oklahoma City.

OCA President Chuck Unruh won the Expert prize and Ed Boyle took Class A. Charles Unruh won the B class as Zoltan Szaloky hails from Texas and was therefore ineligible for the OK title. Devin Hughes won in Class C and Paul Hodgden took the D class prize. Jared Parker gained the E class title on tie-breaks over Robert Phy and Brandon Rhodes (Peter C. Lesslie won the cash prize but as a Kansas resident was ineligible for the title.)

I feel obliged to explain the inclusion of unrated Tony D. Lin (Kenny's dad) in the tournament, since it was advertised as "no unrateds". Tony played as a houseman, which is a player who pays no entry fee and is ineligible for prizes but is paired in order to avoid assigned byes. Adding Tony allowed all the Class E players to play three rated games.

It appeared that a good time was had by the participants, all of whom I would like to thank for their support.
