OCA Annual Meeting and Election 25 June 2006

All OCA Policy Board positions will be open for election at the Annual Members Meeting, to be held 8:00 am the morning of Sunday 25 June at the 61st Annual Oklahoma Open State Championship Tournament. Officer reports will be presented by the President, Secretary and Treasurer. We will also be voting on a change to the Bylaws as detailed below that reduces the minimum membership fees. Expanding on that, members will be asked to approve Free OCA memberships. Please plan to be there.

Per the Bylaws, eligible voters must be USCF members and current OCA members by June 12 or playing in the Oklahoma Open State Championship the prior day.

If you may be interested in an active role on the OCA leadership team to help take Oklahoma chess to new heights, it would be a pleasure to visit with you about opportunities to serve.

Items to be voted on by the membership:

It was decided at the 11 Feb 06 OCA Board meeting to have the membership vote on the following two items at the Annual Meeting. Please see the 11 Feb 06 Board Meeting Minutes for a full explanation of why these items will help the OCA to be in a much better financial position for its long term success.

1) A change in the OCA bylaws will be put to a vote of the membership at the Annual Meeting on Sunday 25 June 2006. It will change the currently set Regular and Youth membership dues stated in the bylaws to instead be maximum membership dues. The verbiage will state: Any person may become a Regular Member of the OCA upon payment of “no more than” $10.00 dues for one year. The Youth member dues will also have “no more than” added.

2) Free Regular and Youth memberships at OCA tournaments for participants that play in two or more rounds. This membership will include full voting privileges until one year from the date of the tournament at which the membership was conferred. The OCB for those with Free memberships will be published on the OCA website in a format than can be easily viewed and printed.
