OCA Bylaws Revision Process Amendment

The revision process currently states:

IV.4 Nomination and Bylaws Amendment Proposals:

b)      Proposed bylaws amendments must be submitted in writing to the Secretary or President by the Nominating Committee, or voting members per section III.2, no less than 30 days prior to the Annual Membership Meeting. Amendments by voting members not on the Policy Board must be submitted in writing by at least three voting members.

Only requiring 3 members to submit a proposal to the members for a vote allows the possibility of flooding the system with frivolous amendment proposals. Therefore it is proposed that the requirement be at least 10 of the voting members. Also, it should be allowed that any voting member may submit a proposed bylaws amendment for consideration by the Policy Board.

Here is the proposed revision process verbiage:

IV.4 Nomination and Bylaws Amendment Proposals:

b)      Proposed bylaws amendments must be submitted in writing to the Secretary or President by the Nominating Committee, or voting members per section III.2, no less than 30 days prior to the Annual Membership Meeting. Amendments by voting members not on the Policy Board must be submitted in writing by at least ten of the voting members. Any voting member may submit a proposed bylaws amendment to the Policy Board for consideration.

Thanks for your consideration,
