TULSA CHESS CLUB: New USCF Tournament for February!
As everyone knows, February is the month for couples. At one time we celebrated the birthdays of two of our greatest Presidents in February. George Washington and Abe Lincoln. Soon someone joined them as a couple and we celebrate them on Feb 20th this year.
The most famous couple celebration, is of course, Valentines Day! Every year on Feb 14th, is the day that all good men BETTER treat their ladies like the Queen they are.
Well, to celebrate a couples month, the Tulsa CC will hold it first TEAM Tournament over a COUPLE of Friday nights. There will be a COUPLE of rounds over a COUPLE of days. This is a try-out tournament to see what kind of fun and interest we can have. Below is the Details:
Date: Feb 17 and 24th ----- 4 Rounds, Rd 1 & 2 on the 17th, Rd 3 & 4 on the 24th
Cost: $15 a COUPLE ----- Prizes for the winning COUPLES. (At the moment, 100% return after small expenses are paid.)
Time Limit: G30+5d, If Rd 1 and 3 start at 7:30, then Rd 2 & 4 can start about 8:45-8:50PM
THIS IS A USCF RATED EVENT. It affects your REGULAR rating! You must be a USCF member.
TEAMS: There will be TWO (A COUPLE) of sections playing together:
Championship Teams: Rating Average UNDER 1550 ----- Reserve Champions: UNDER 1300
USCF and CXR Ratings will be used. If you are rated under both groups, then the HIGHER rating is what will be used for the team. If you only have a one rating, then that is what will be used.
